Frequently asked questions
If you’re travelling within Canada and leaving your home province or territory, you can purchase additional travel insurance beyond what’s provided by your government health insurance plan.
If your luggage or other belongings go missing while you are travelling, you should first file your claim under your travel insurance policy (if applicable) to see what could potentially be covered. If there are any items that are not covered by the travel insurance policy, they may be covered under your homeowner's policy.
You can submit a claim with your home insurance at any time; however, you may have to wait until the travel insurance claim is settled before the home insurance portion is finalized. Note that any payout received is subject to the terms and conditions of your policy.
